"I work from awkwardness. By that I mean I don't like to arrange things. If I stand in front of something, instead of arranging it, I arrange myself." -Diane Arbus

So tell us what you like and what you don't and we'll improve it over the coming months and make it look even better, with your help of course! [Back to top]
New Retouching Techniques
Some say that the camera never lies, but retouching certainly exaggerates. We make sure that every image we produce is make to look as good as possible. Ione oversees the whole process and makes sure that all the final images don't look overdone.
We've put an example here of before and after, there's loads of good tutorials on the internet but we've noticed that Professional Photographer magazine has a great article in the March issue. It's well worth a look!
We retouch every image to enhance, not change the final image, we believe subtlety is the key.
Working with the Wicked Witch
It was a great please to have Kerry Ellis from the musical 'Wicked' in the studio. She plays the lead role in the production and she's amazing as the Wicked Witch in the hit musical!
We were asked to produce the album artwork for her upcoming album. We had a really great afternoon with her and the final images came out brilliantly. Kerry's had an amazing career so far, to see her website click here
We ended up with lots of great shots but thought we'd share this one with you, hope you like it.
Squash that!
We're pretty used to working in different locations but a squash court was a new experience. We were commissioned by BeBRAND to photograph a talented
young squash player Kerri Shields.
We put ourselves at risk by standing right in the firing line as Kerri's showed what a talented athlete she really is. We needn't have worried, Kerri's control, speed and accuracy was superb.
Her new web site is now launched and features images by MindStudio and we think it's rather good! See it here [Back to top]

IMAGES
Images of the month
There's a theme to this month's Images of the Month. All images were shot for the L'Oreal Colour Trophy for Chiswick & Clapton Toni & Guy salons. We were thrilled to find out that the one of the styles was selected to go through to the regional finals in the prestigious event. So congratulations to Eun and all the team from Clapham Junction.
Libelula Films
The main man from Libelula films (Guillermo Ibanez) has been working with us at the studio for our new studio video. Guillermo's a real talent and he's brought his creative film making skills to east London.
Guillermo made the record during a shoot in late February. We were working with Toni & Guy - Clapham junction for the L'Oreal Colour trophy competition. It shows how we create an image and how the team works together.
We reckon the final piece was pretty special and we were so impressed we asked Guillermo to join the team. Thankfully he's agreed so MindStudio in conjunction with Libelula now offer videography as part of our solution.

Online tutorials & courses.
We're continually being asked to help people develop their photography skills so we've now put on a special section on our new website. Not only are there techniques but we've written a few project ideas too. If you have any ideas for future tutorials let us know. Check it out here
These articles are to support the training that we provide at MindStudio. We'll grow skills in particular areas such as studio lighting, portraiture, post production, work flow, working with models, food photography and much more. Each lesson is designed around the individual or group so each one is different. Because we're open 7 days a week and until late every night we can fit around your busy schedule.
We 're also proud to be working with Centre 404, which provides training for adults with learning difficulties. We're working with the group on a weekly basis. The members, the staff and all of us at MindStudio are enjoying every second of it.
If you want to improve your photography skills give us a call to discuss your needs.
